About this Boat
I bought the “Bird” 2009 in Darwin, Australia directly from the builder. Who had just spent a year doing a complete refit of the boat. The Bird won many races with The first owner, amongst them, the Darwin - Ambon race. After I purchased the Bird I sailed her in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. From then on I have only sailed her 6 weeks per year, sailing from Thailand to Maldives, Reunion Island, around Southern Africa to Brazil, Suriname and ultimately Trinidad where she now lays ready for the Caribbean season. Between the sailing periods she was always laying on land and continuously maintained and upgraded by professionals. Major refit done in Brazil July 2017. Structural, folding mechanism and rigging, removed, inspected and parts changed as required. The Bird has been upgraded through the years for more comfort in port and ocean crossings. At sea the hydro generator and solar panels are very efficient and there is always a surplus energy supply of 12 and 220 volt. Shore power plug and cable on board to connect the battery charger. With a draft of only 60 cm with the center board up i have travelled up many rivers, sailed in shallow lagoons and simply beached her where convenient. When it came to laying the boat up I could always tow her to a cheaper storage as she fits on a trailer.
