Island Dancer is the REAL DEAL! She is not the typical Lagoon, Leopard or Fountaine Pajot that you will find on the market. She was designed as a world-class cruising catamaran in a class of her own by Bryan Perry the renowned Australian designer/builder.
Island Dancer was the last of many generations of Perry 43’s and they incorporated numerous features of the luxurious Perry 57 that has followed. There are too many custom features to mention, as the current and original owner lived with the designer while the boat was being constructed. Everywhere you look there is something special and unique.
Originally equipped with a diesel electric system, Island Dancer has a power system like no other catamaran on the market today. Due to a lack of world-wide diesel electric support -the original propulsion system - the owner made the decision - without regard to expense - and replaced the diesel-electric propulsion with two Yanmar 54HP diesels while keeping the unique advantages of the electrical system in place. The result offered tons of redundancy, convenience, and ease of operation. She is of yacht of high-quality, luxury, performance, unseen in today’s cruising catamaran market.
This is a “must see” vessel.

SummaryIsland Dancer is a "one-off" custom Perry 43 Prestige Passagemaker incorporating maximum performance, luxury, safety and convenience. The vessel was designed to cruise the world's oceans in total comfort and it is adaptable to European & USA power requirements. The galley hosts a full range of Miele appliances and endless storage. The saloon offers typical home comforts of leather seating flat screen TV and Bose surround sound. The vessel is highly self-sufficient with large tankage, oversized battery bank, auxiliary wind, solar, generator charging, plus on-board water-making capability. All equipment is state of the art and the machinery is at the highest level and no expense has been spared.
Island Dancer was originally designed with "diesel-electric propulsion" resulting in a 1600 AMP battery bank, large inverters/chargers, all electric Miele galley appliances & other electric features. Propane is not required on the vessel. In 2011 Island Dancer was re-powered with two (2) Yanmar 54 hp motors but all the of an all electric galley, additional battery & charging capacity were fully retained granting the best of two-propulsion system approaches to the vessel. Re-powering was selected because Glacier Bay (the diesel-electric) manufacturer discontinued their operations.
***Please note that Island Dancer is 47' with the bowsprit.

The vessel is primarily a 220/240v vessel so that it may be used world-wide & it should be used in that manner. There are three panels - DC(in the nav station), house batteries & the like in the port hallway, & 220/240v breakers in a panel below the house batteries in the port hallway.
Best bet is to always use "ship power" & the inverters even when connected to the dock. You will note the GPO's (general purpose) 220/240Vthroughout the vessel. They are used for coffee pots to vacuum cleaners, to hair dryers - none of these will work without the inverter switch on in the upper panel.
Likewise, if you want to use the microwave - just ensure the inverter switch is on & flip the micro breaker on the lower panel - everything then is running through the inverter. If you really want to operate a lot at the same time - then turn on the genset (you need to change the source from ship power to genset).
110v - their are four (outlets) & just plug in & you are ready.
12DC operates from the DC panel in the nav station - want saloon lights - then choose the breaker.
Keep a careful eye out on the "victron" circle gauge in the upper panel in the port hallway. The "SOC - state of charge is critical" and you don't want it to go below 80-85. When it gets close, turn on an engine or gen set.
Always keep the wind generator on - it's quiet - if everything is to a maximum charge it will automatically shut down until it's needed. Solar and wind work together.
Each motor has a second 110v alternator to ensure everything is topped off. The batteries are "Odyssey Gel" & are highly reliable.
The DC panel in the nav station is simple. Pick what you want and leave it at that. All light switches will operate accordingly. Cockpit & saloon switches are controlled from a set of switches on the left side of the nav station. Below the switches is a door & with a tape guide on top for use of the switches. Cockpit & saloon switches are also dimmers.
Island dancer's electrical has been designed to operate world-wide. There are many 220/240 appliances on board & a simple step up/step down unit can accommodate a variety of equipment.
