About this Boat

Smooth & Connected.  Legato.  Like a series of good passages that take you half way around the world and put a smile on your face that lasts a lifetime.  This is a one owner St. Francis 44 MK II.  She has voyaged 40,000 nautical miles.  Yet she has only 1800 hours on her engines.  That means she has delivered a lot of smooth sailing and very little bashing.  This despite having gone from Cape Town to Seattle, back to Panama, and then climbing 6,000 miles of coast again against wind and current to the Pacific Northwest.   Walking her decks today shows how well she was built.  She has no history of major damage or repair.  Her glasswork shows a bit of patina but little to no sign of stress.

St. Francis 44s are well regarded cruising catamarans and many having circumnavigated.  They are well balanced with the weight right where it is supposed to be - amidships.  Hulls are narrow at the waterline and easily driven by the large rig and amidship engines.  Diagonal drives make the St. Francis imminently beachable and far less likely to entangle a crab pot, wrap an errant line, or ground a drive. The hulls and the coachroof are designed to shed wind - yielding sleek lines.  Broad decks make for secure footing and she has a well protected cockpit.  The MK II designation indicates a larger sail area to displacement ratio than their predecessor and a higher bridgedeck.  Indeed, owners find these to be high pointing, fast sailing, and excellent light air cruising catamarans.  They take good care of their crews and are quite seakindly.  And they can carry a good crew in 4 cabins each with a private ensuite - two with sitz tubs.

Legato has brought 40,000 miles of joy to her current owners.  They can tell you everything about her.  Alas, she has been in the yard these past two years and needs to be reconnected with the water for many more years of smooth sailing.
